Tipp senden

We rely on contributions from readers, sources and whistleblowers to uncover stories that matter. If you have information about policy developments, public-interest stories or any aspect of Swedish society that you believe deserves scrutiny, we want to hear from you. This page explains what makes a strong tip, how to send it securely and what happens after you do.

What makes a good tip for Hauptreport?

A good tip is specific, verifiable and serves the public interest. We are particularly interested in developments at the Riksdagen, the Regeringen and in municipal politik, as well as Wirtschaft news, economic trends and cultural or societal shifts with clear Swedish relevance. If your tip involves documents, data or direct experience that can be corroborated, it is far more likely to lead to a story.

We also welcome tips about potential wrongdoing, waste of public funds, conflicts of interest or policy decisions that affect ordinary people. Tips that are vague, based on rumour or lack any supporting evidence are harder to pursue. If you are unsure whether your information fits, send it anyway — our editorial team will assess it.

How do I send a tip to Hauptreport?

You can reach us directly at tips@hauptreport.de for confidential submissions. For general news leads or story ideas, use newsdesk@hauptreport.de. If your tip involves a press release or media inquiry, please use press@hauptreport.de. All emails are reviewed by the relevant desk.

For sensitive material, we recommend using encrypted email or contacting our fact-checking desk at factcheck@hauptreport.de if you want to verify information before submission. You can also write to our editorial team via the general contact address info@hauptreport.de, which will be forwarded appropriately.

What should I include in my tip?

Include as much context as possible: the core facts, relevant dates, names of people or organisations involved, and any documents, screenshots or links that support your claim. If you have a specific angle or suspect a pattern, explain why you think it matters for Swedish readers. A clear subject line helps us route your tip quickly.

You do not need to be a journalist or expert. A simple, honest account of what you have observed or learned is often the most valuable. If you prefer to remain anonymous, state that clearly — we will respect your wishes and take steps to protect your identity.

How does Hauptreport verify tips?

Verification is led by our Ansvarig för faktagranskning, Melanie Winter, who oversees the standards desk. Every tip is assessed for credibility: we check sources, cross-reference documents and, where possible, seek independent confirmation. Our full process is detailed in our fact-checking policy and sources and standards page.

We never publish a story based on a single anonymous tip without corroboration. If we cannot verify key elements, we will not proceed. We also log all corrections and complaints under our corrections policy, which applies equally to stories that originate from tips.

What about confidentiality and anonymity?

We take confidentiality seriously. If you request anonymity, we will not share your identity with anyone outside the editorial team unless required by law. We use encrypted communication channels for sensitive submissions and advise against using work or shared devices. You can also send tips via postal mail to our registered office in Valletta, but we recommend digital submission for speed and security.

Our editorial mission is to protect sources who act in the public interest. We will not pressure you to reveal your identity, and we will discuss with you any limits to confidentiality before we proceed.

What happens after I submit a tip?

Your tip is logged and reviewed by the relevant editor — typically Jessica Wolff, Redaktionschef, or a desk specialist such as Tim Wolf for politik or Sarah Huber for Wirtschaft. If it fits our editorial priorities, we will investigate further. You may not receive an immediate reply, but every tip is read. If we need more information, we will contact you using the details you provided.

If your tip leads to a story, we will credit you as a source only with your explicit permission. If we decide not to pursue it, we will not share your information elsewhere. You can also submit a correction to any published story via corrections@hauptreport.de under our corrections policy.

What you can expect from us

You can expect a fair, thorough assessment of your information. We will not sensationalise or misrepresent your tip. Our editorial standards require that every story based on a tip is reviewed by a named writer, an editor and a fact-checker before publication. We will be transparent about what we know and what we cannot confirm.

We also commit to protecting your safety and privacy. If your tip involves legal risk, we will advise you on secure communication methods. Our team is trained to handle sensitive material with discretion.
