Unsere Geschichte

Hauptreport Media Ltd. founded Hauptreport (hauptreport.de) in 2024 to fill a specific gap in the Swedish news landscape: clear, practical journalism for readers who want context without noise. Many news outlets prioritise speed or sensationalism, leaving audiences overwhelmed by headlines that lack depth or explanation. We set out to build a digital publisher that delivers straightforward coverage of Swedish news, politics, economics, culture and current affairs, written for readers in Sweden and internationally who value substance over spin. Our tagline, “Nachrichten, Analysen und Hintergründe für Deutschland,” reflects our commitment to serving German-speaking audiences with trustworthy reporting on Sweden, but our readership extends globally to anyone seeking a reliable window into Swedish affairs. The company is registered in Gibraltar under number C 92009 in the Malta Business Registry, with a registered office in Valletta, and operates with full editorial independence from its owners. Every article we publish starts from a simple premise: help the reader understand what is happening, why it matters, and what it means in practice.

What problem did Hauptreport set out to solve?

We identified a persistent lack of accessible, well-contextualised Swedish news for readers who either live outside Sweden or who consume media in German. Major international outlets often cover Sweden only during crises or scandals, while domestic Swedish media can assume deep local knowledge that foreign readers do not have. Swedish news reported in German, meanwhile, frequently suffers from oversimplification or political bias. Hauptreport was founded to bridge that gap: we deliver coverage that explains Swedish policy, economics, social trends and cultural events without editorialising or cutting corners. Our editorial mission is to help readers grasp complex topics—whether that is Sweden’s housing market, the Riksdag’s latest legislative package, or cultural policy reforms—through clear analysis and careful sourcing. We do not chase viral metrics or craft clickbait; we build each article around the reader’s need for reliable, practical understanding.

Who is responsible for what we publish?

Our editorial team is led by Chefredaktör Michael Schulte, who oversees editorial standards, publication decisions and all corrections. Schulte works daily with a dedicated desk structure, each editor specialising in a distinct beat. Redaktionschef Jessica Wolff manages the newsroom, reviews headlines and commissions articles across all sections. Politikredaktör Tim Wolf covers the Riksdag, the government and municipal politics. Wirtschaftreporterin Sarah Huber handles economics, markets and household finance. Kultur- och samhällsredaktör Sebastian Frank oversees culture, lifestyle and society coverage. Ansvarig för faktagranskning Melanie Winter leads fact-checking, source verification and corrections. Every piece carries a named writer, an editor’s review and a fact-check before publication. Readers can view the full team structure and contact details on our Our Team page.

What can you expect from our journalism?

Readers can expect clear bylines on every article, explicit sourcing, and a transparent corrections process. We list the sources behind each story—whether official documents, interviews, public data or expert analysis—and we publish corrections promptly when errors occur. Our editorial policy is publicly available on the Editorial Policy page, and our sourcing standards are detailed on the Sources & Standards page. Every story is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor responsible for that beat, and checked for factual accuracy before release. AI-assisted tools may support research, drafting or formatting, but they never replace human editorial judgment; all published content is approved by a human editor. We prohibit the use of AI to fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. This commitment is spelled out in our AI & Automation Policy.

How do we handle mistakes?

We treat corrections as an essential part of trustworthy journalism. If an article contains an error—whether a factual mistake, a misattribution or an omission—readers are encouraged to contact our fact-checking desk directly via factcheck@hauptreport.de or through our Corrections Policy page. Melanie Winter, our fact-checking editor, leads the review process and ensures that corrections are published clearly and promptly. We also maintain a Complaints Procedure for more formal concerns. Our goal is not to be infallible, but to be transparent and responsive when we fall short. Every correction is appended to the original article with an explanation, and significant errors are noted in our correction log.
